Fruits and Vegetables

Planning a fruit and/or vegetable garden requires a little preparation that will result in a sustainable garden. The importance of soil quality, productivity, and management practices combine a few actions. It is pertinent to make sure the area that is to be planted has good soil it’s planting purpose. Determining the type of soil in the garden location will tell what fruit or vegetable will perform the best, providing stability for the plants. If the plant is not healthy it may produce poorly, if production is viable. Proper use and application of fertilizers and organic matter is important to the end result of all the hard work applied. If unsure about the soil nutrients, stop by and see us to pick up a soil test kit (kits are free). A basic soil test is $15/sample and four crop codes can be tested from one sample. Media forms and instructions are in the front entrance as well. More information about mailing and submitting soil samples can be found here.
