Giles County 4-H Chick Chain

The Giles County 4-H Chick Chain is open to all Giles County 4th-12th grade students. Sign ups normally start at the beginning of November and run through the middle of December. Chick Chain has always been one of the premier programs offered through 4-H, and our sign up list of, on average 30, is always full. Participants place a deposit upon sign up and will normally receive their pullets around February, the year following sign up. The participants are then required to return a set amount of grown chickens to the Poultry Show & Sale which normally occurs in August. The chickens are judged, then auctioned off to buyers who love to attend the show each and every year! Once the participants have completed the project by attending the show & sale, they are refunded the initial deposit made when they signed up. All proceeds from the sale go back in to the county project. This project is great for strengthening responsibility and accountability, plus is fun and rewarding.
