The Giles County Extension Office provides leadership in community resource development projects in addition to traditional activities. Programs such as Household Hazardous Waste Collection, Ag-in-the-classroom, Clean and Green Project, the Giles County Fair, and Farmland Preservation Trust are supported by Extension efforts.

The Agricultural Advisory and Development Council, created by Extension, meets on a quarterly basis to plan programs and discuss community issues. This committee is primarily individuals working in agricultural related fields or businesses. However, anyone with rural and comminity interests are invited to participate in this council.

Special or timely issues may also be addressed such as waste management, pesticide safety, or in recent years, fire ant control.
